This year's 30 Hour Famine is quickly approaching. Happening February 22-23, the 30 Hour Famine is an international youth movement to fight world hunger. God calls us to care for the needs of the poor. The 30 Hour Famine is a great way for students to come together and follow God into that mission.
As last year, I have the privilege once again of leading the Portland 30 Hour Famine Rally. We are expecting 1,000 students from all over the Portland area to join us as we come together to seek God's heart for the poor.
Are you doing the famine this year? Have you done it in the past? I would love to hear about your experience. Please share your story in the comment section of this post. If you are considering doing the famine this year but have questions, let me know. I would be happy to help.

It a fast, not a famine. Don't kid yourselves you are making a choice not to eat. Sheesh....
We have the 40 Hour Famine here in Australia. I've done it several times and I've even worked for World Vision during the event a couple of times.
It's a great initiative and I wish you and your team all the best in raising the profile of poverty and helping to do something about it.
I'm doing the famine with my youth group for the first time this year. The youth were a bit apprehensive about the idea of not eating for 30 hours until I showed them some of the promo videos and we talked about world hunger and how many kids die from hunger each day. They started changing their tune quickly and decided that 30 hours wasn't so long compared to what those kids go through on a daily basis. It was neat to see their attitudes and hearts beginning to change and we're excited to be getting ready to do it (we are doing our a week earlier than the national weekend in Feb.). I have some student leaders on board and we are beginning to plan. I'll let you know if we have any questions for you. Thanks!
That is wonderful to her Abi. You will find that the 30 Hour Famine is an event that definitely gains momentum over the years the more your students do it. The videos changed their tune, the event will really change their tune and perhaps even their lives. I'd love to hear how it goes for you.
