In truth, may we be more committed to discovering how to be the church as opposed to how to do church.
May it be our desire as the church to truly give ourselves to the lifestyle of worship that God desires..
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1
May we learn how to truly live in the kind of community that God desires...
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...... All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:42-47.

This actually brings up a really sore point with me. Yes... I am opinionated, so here I go.
Churches that try to fit into the cookie cutter should just close their doors. See... different kinds of ministry are affective in some areas but not in others. Why is that? Well... God made us all different.
Lets dig deeper. It absolutely kills me when church “B” tries to be like church “A” just because church “A” is functioning quite well in its environment. See church “B” does not want to realize that its in a different geographic area by which it is also in a different economic, ethnic, cultural, etc, etc, etc.... area. So what is affective for “A” most likely will not be as affective for “B”. Sure, it might work to a point but what happens when you reach that point?
Most churches continue with the plan they adapted from “A” and drive it into the ground. I think the better method is to test the plan from “A” in “B’s” environment and make changes so that the borrowed plan will be affective in the “B” situation. I hope this makes sense to you all. It also brings up another point.

Ineffective ministries. If there is a ministry in your church that is ineffective, that is to say your church continues to put money & time into it but it’s going no where but down, then either reflect & adjust it or drop it all together. We are called to be affective as the body of Christ. It kills me when we see churches that budget money & time for ministries that have long since been ineffective or where never affective from the start. I’m sure we can all think of situations in our own churches. Even more importantly... when we are pouring the money & time down the drain into these ineffective areas of ministry we are as a church being bad stewards (managers) of God’s money as well as His time. Let’s face it, he knows how long we have... it’s His time. So I beg you if it’s not affective, walk away. Don’t be ashamed if your on staff or a laymen to get before your church and say, “hey, this is not working, we need to be using God’s resources more affectively.”

As far as ineffective ministries go, we should not be afarid to fail, yet at the same time we must be willing to re-evaluate, make changes, or completly change our approach.
