Invisible Children

Today I saw the film "Invisible Children." It rocked me. I still hardly know what to think, let alone do.

It's the story of the children of Northern Uganda that are forced to flee their homes each and every night so that they might sleep without the fear of being abducted by the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army), the forces engaged in the 17 year battle to overthrow the Sudanese government.

It is a tragedy that has gone on largely unnoticed by the rest of the world. It is an injustice that must be brought to an end. Please visit Invisible Children to learn more.

Here's the trailer....

Brian, so glad you saw this...if one can be glad about this horrific reality. This has become one more piece of the puzzle God is fitting together in my life...Injustice around the world at every turn. I would love to partner with you and bring to our church body's attention these things...I feel that I could write and write and write about this...my heart bursts with anguish for children who actually find "safety" in the basements of the city rather than in their beds at home...Home should be a place of safety...my daughter is safely sleeping now down the hall dreaming of Cabbage Patch kids and My Little Pony...thousands of children elsewhere huddle in fear...this is not right!

Heather I first learned of the film through reading about it on blogs. Then recently a gal in our church contacted me because her friend is organizing a screening at the Guild Theater here in Portland (March 27). I actually ended up seeing the film because a student of mine saw it at his high school, bought the DVD, and then let us borrow it to watch.

I have read quite a bit of the web site and am very impressed with the effort that is underway.

It is a tragic situation and I am encouraged to see all that is taking place to remedy it.
