End of the Blog

It was eight years ago that I began blogging.  A lot has happened in the last eight years.  A lot has changed.  Back in 2005 it was normal for me to be posting upwards of 20+ posts a month.  Now not so much.

The social network landscape has changed quite a bit in the last eight years.  It seems more people are  now engaged in the likes of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, along with many other online mediums, than they are blogs.  I for quite some time now, have said Facebook killed the blog.  It certainly has seemed to have that effect on this one!

While I may no longer be posting my thoughts here, I am still quite active online.  I have recently redirected my domain name (brianeberly.com) to about.me.  I didn't want to let my domain expire so had to have it land somewhere.  For now this is it's new home. At the new brianeberly.com you will find a collection of all my online activity.  It is sort of an aggregate of my life if you will.  Feel free to come on over and take a glimpse.

All my previous posts to this blog will remain.  Kind of a small time capsule into the life and times of my life.

Thanks for reading.

Verbal Comments

You may now leave verbal comments on this blog!

Here's how it works:

1. Press the “call me” button and it will tell you what your next step is.

2. Enter your name and the phone number you'd like to be called at. If you choose "keep number private" that means it will still use that phone to connect you, I just won't be able to see that number.

3. Click "Connect."

4. A random phone number from Google Voice will call you. Answer the call.

5. You will get a personal greeting from me, saying hello and telling you what to do. Your message will not ring my phone, it will just go directly to both my voicemail and email.

6. Leave your comment or message. If it's a private message that you would rather not be published to my blog, just let me know and I will keep it that way.

7. As soon as you hang up, Google Voice alerts me that I have a new message.

8. I listen to your message, and read the message transcribed in my email.

9. If your message is relevant to this blog, I will post your comment to the post you are referencing. Again, if it's a personal message, I will keep it that way.

Go ahead and give it a try. I would love to hear from you!

Blog Change

There has been a lot of change in my life recently. Seems it has been a real season of change, so it's only fitting that after three years of this blog having the same look, it was time for a change.

One of the coolest things I have added is RefTagger. If you hover over any scripture reference a window will pop up displaying the scripture. It can be set to most any translation. You will find mine set to the NIV. Check it out, here is one of my favorite scriptures ... Philippians 4:6-7.

If you have a blog go to RefTagger and check it out. It's very easy to install.

Enjoy!

Blog Action Day

Blog Silence

As you know, this blog has been quite quiet for a few weeks. This has been a season of life and ministry like none other I have ever experienced. Consequently I have just not had enough brain bytes left to post to my blog. The dust is finally beginning to settle, and that is all about to change!

I am excited about the days ahead.

Today I leave for the weekend for our annual Fall Retreat at Camp Tadmor. Along with all the fun that always takes place we will be focusing on making Jesus Lord of every area of our lives. Pray with us that God moves in the the hearts of both students and staff alike. Follow the weekend's happenings on Twitter, and watch for a follow up post here.

Next week (Oct. 10-13) I will be in Sacramento at the National Youth Workers Convention. Always a great to be with thousands of other people that understand you, and and what you do. Kind of a summer camp for youth workers. This year I have the privilege of being one of four live bloggers at the convention. Be sure to check in here to see our live reports from the event. Of course I will be posting here as well.

I've also got a lot of thoughts whirling around in my head about family ministry that I hope to post real soon.

Stay tuned!

Youth Specialties

It seems that brianeberly.com has been chosen as the featured blog in this week's YS Update. Thanks Youth Specialites. If you found your way here from the YS Update....welcome!

Since we are on the subject of Youth Specialties let me just say if you are a youth worker and have not been to the National Youth Workers Convention, make this year the year you go! I will be at the San Diego convention in October and can't wait! There is something so great about being with thousands of other people that share your passion. The worship is incredible, the teaching is inspiring, and the refreshment is off the charts!

Check out this year's promo video.
